The reason I did not stay with Kanotix was that it did not have kxconfig.
So if I edited my X86config-4 I had to way to make sure I did it right. However I found a rpm package of it and coverted it with alien.
then I installed kpackage and installed the Debian package with kpackage. The rpm package can be found here:
